Sitting outside
19 December 2008Last night I met J and the guys (and R) for hot pot; it was the first time in a long time. Afterwards we went to the Koala bar on Huaihai Lu. Lots of beer and whiskey. We sat outside for a long time.
Sometimes your friends get on your nerves, and you have to manage them. You draw a line you ordinarily wouldn’t draw and then you say, “you stay over there for now, you’re getting on my nerves.” Usually the language is not so direct; there are lies and things left unsaid that you orchestrate so that the annoying person will get the picture, without causing a big scandal.
So sometimes you manage your friends; and sometimes your friends manage you. And you know when you’re being managed, because every move you make is annoying to everyone involved, including yourself. The best you can do is stand still, and try to take the outs that present themselves.

Koala Bar? Used to live a few lots down the block from there. Right beside the hospital. Merry Christmas pare!
